02/27/2018 Council Preview – Land Use Appeal

We start the evening with an update on Sunnyvale’s minimum wage efforts.  This is followed by a study session to discuss the ongoing wage theft study issue.

The general session starts with three special orders. The first is for recognition of heroic action (I have no more details than that – most likely either recognition of something of particular note lately or our annual recognition of extraordinary  public safety service). The second recognizes February as National African American History Month. Finally, we recognize Arbor Day.

02/06/2018 Council Preview – Google Plans for Moffett Park

We start the evening with two closed sessions.  The first involves council chambers security.  The second involves negotiations with the Public Safety Managers Association.

The consent calendar is pretty typical. Beyond the usual, we’ve got our quarterly investment report, rejection of bids for a study for a new Emergency Operations Center, the annual work plans for the boards and commissions, and the second reading of an SSCD ordinance.  Finally, there’s an interesting amendment of the contract for designing the Bernardo undercrossing. The general session starts with a couple of special orders.  We’ll be recognizing the outgoing and incoming Vice Mayors. We’ll also be recognizing the launch of Sunnyvale Working Scholars , a program that enables Sunnyvale residents to earn a bachelors degree.

01/09/2018 Council Preview – Vice Mayor Selection, IGRs, LAPs, and Seating

Happy New Year to everyone.

We start this meeting with two closed sessions – one involving ongoing negotiations with the Communication Officers Association, one involving the City Attorney’s annual performance review.  This is followed by a special order of the day to acknowledge National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.

The consent calendar is pretty small – the usual meeting minutes and list of bills, plus the annual review of the Code of Ethics.

Note that in the past, we have held our annual public hearing on proposed study issues and budget supplements during the first meeting of the year.  That’s not happening this year – it will be on January 23rd.
