We start the evening with a round of board and commission interviews. Then the general session starts with a special order to recognize Women’s History Month.
The consent calendar is mostly public works stuff – two slurry seal contracts, a contract for rehabilitating a bunch of our parks’ parking lots, and amending a contract related to the Water Pollution Control Plant rebuild. There is an amendment to a contract for legal services. And we’re looking at replacing two of our fire engines earlier than planned, due to the difficulty in getting replacement parts for the specific modes that we have.
Item 2 is the big item on the list – consideration of options for the Lakewood Branch Library. Staff is proposing that we enter into an agreement with both the Sunnyvale School District and Fremont Unified High School District to develop a joint facility.
Item 3 was placed on the agenda by the Mayor – whether or not to pursue additional firearm regulations. The Mayor is asking us to direct staff to bring back a draft ordinance to prohibit the sale of certain firearms to people under 21.
And item 4 is our annual report to the state on progress implementing our Housing Element.
