Looks like a long and controversial night. We start the evening with a closed session to discuss a possible replacement for the golf course concessionaire. This is followed by a study session to go over an update to our master plan for Sunnyvale’s Clean Water Program (and I honestly know nothing more than that).
The general meeting starts with the swearing in of our newest of boardmembers and commissioners. The consent calendar is pretty varied, including a joint use agreement for developing the East and West Channel trails, acceptance of a public safety grant that gets us traffic enforcement enhancements including LIDAR, an extension of a food waste contract, two grand jury responses, and the second reading of our camping in public space ordinance.
Item 2 is the short-term rental and home sharing issue, and staff is requesting a continuation for three weeks.
Item 3 has us taking a look at the County’s proposal to open a temporary cold weather shelter on county property at Fair Oaks and California. As it involves county property, the City has no authority, and the county has no city permitting requirements. However, the County is asking for our support, and we will be expressing a position on the County’s proposal.
Item 4 returns a design review for 21026 Lois Avenue. This has now been to the Planning Commission three times, and its decision was appealed to the City Council for a second time.
Item 5 proposes changes to the Fair Oaks Park Master Plan. We were approved for a $973k grant to improve the park, and this outlines the proposed changes to Fair Oaks Park, to be paid for with the grant.
Item 6 has us picking an alternate to the VTA El Camino Real BRT Policy Advisory Board.
And item 7 has us ratifying Councilmember Davis’ appointment to the Emergency Operational Area Council.
That’s it.
