While this is not exactly news at this point, Lockheed will be eliminating 200 positions in Sunnyvale and closing four buildings as part of an overall 4000 person reduction in force. Lockheed seems to be saying that it is maintaining a long-term commitment to Sunnyvale, given its significant investments in its Sunnyvale facilities over the past five years. That’s good news. But Lockheed’s commitment to Sunnyvale will likely be somewhat contingent on its continued access to the Moffett Airfield, which introduces some uncertainty.
