Forbes has an interesting article on the resurgence of manufacturing in Silicon Valley, and why it is still an ideal place for certain types of manufacturing despite the high cost of labor.  Among the companies mentioned is Sunnyvale’s Intuitive Surgical, which produces some pretty amazing robotic surgery devices (I got to try one of them out a few months ago – really cool).  It’s a good read for folks who are concerned about US and Bay Area manufacturing.
